Spotlight Retail Group – home to beloved brands like Spotlight, Anaconda, Mountain Designs, and Harris Scarfe are looking for an exceptional Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our vibrant Finance team.
This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid role where you'll be the backbone of the entire end-to-end AP process. We embrace pace, encourage new ideas, and offer a culture that rewards initiative and creativity.
What You Will Be Doing
The Accounts Payable Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership, governance, and operational oversight to the AP team, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all supplier invoices and payments.
- Leadership & Team Oversight: Mentor, coach, and manage the AP Team Leader and wider team, driving performance and capability development.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the complete AP cycle (intake, coding, PO matching, approvals, payments) and monitor key KPIs (invoice processing, GRIR ageing, vendor query turnaround).
- Payment & Risk Management: Own the payment cycles, provide second-level payment checks, and actively mitigate payment risks, including fraud and duplicates.
- Process Improvement: Champion continuous improvement across AP systems, controls, and workflows. Drive automation and represent the AP team in system projects (UAT, upgrades).
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with audit requirements, support month-end/year-end closing, and prepare insightful reports (KPI dashboards, variance analysis) for management.
What You'll Bring to the Team
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Significant AP Experience: Proven experience leading senior staff, Team Leaders, and managing a large, high-volume AP function.
- Systems Expertise: Strong working knowledge of large ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Process Acumen: Deep understanding of end-to-end AP systems, workflows, and robust controls.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex systemic AP issues.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across Merchandise, Operations, Treasury, and wider Finance teams.
- Data Analysis: Ability to interpret and summarise large data sets for management reporting.
Highly Desirable Attributes:
- Prior involvement in system upgrades or automation projects.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in month-end balance sheet reconciliations or cash flow forecasting.
